The successful kickstarter project is finally starting to taste real. The spiritual successor to Rare’s classic, Banjo-Kazooie has a release date. Here with pre-order bonuses to boot. Playtonic have announced April 11, 2017 as the games official release date. Inspired by classic platforming and built by a team of former Rare employees. We are closer to experiencing a modern trip down memory lane.

To celebrate the occasion a new trailer titled “Capital Cashino” has also dropped. With roulette tables to slot machines, it is a wild take on a casino environment. Fans of Banjo-Kazooie will be happy to see the inclusion of the goofy character voices. A trademark of the old developers, you can see they still have their style nailed down.

For those interested in a pre-order of the game, it is available for that on Steam. Priced at £34.99/$39.99/€39.99 as the immediate price. There is an included pre-order bonus in the form of a playable extended demo. The “Yooka-Laylee Toybox” as it as advertised, contains spoiler-free, sandbox content. It is there to give players a taste of what’s to come in the full game. The Toybox was only available to kickstarter backers at first. That is now confirmed to have changed though with the news of it being available to all who pre-order the title.

There is a digital deluxe version also available on Steam. It includes a digital soundtrack, as well as a manual/art book. If you’d rather not buy direct from Steam, then you can get it from GOG.com, so the choice is there.

With the release date confirmed, there is sure to be more upcoming news on the game soon. For full information on all things Yooka-Laylee, go and check out Playtonic’s website to keep updated with their encouraging progress.
